Type 2 Diabetes affects 500,000 Mauritians, one of the highest per capita occurences in the world. We needed to fight back with a powerful awareness campaign, and we did it during the festive season in the midst of the Covid confinement.
We invited several celebrities to come forward in the fight against diabetes to help raise both funds and awareness and once famous Mauritian singer Linzy Bacbotte got behind it, there was no stopping the campaign. She co-composed Anou kraz diabet! (Let’s smash diabetes!) with Stelio Pierre Louis. Several well known personalities participated and they ‘smashed it!’
